Our leather

Every Harrow piece starts as Italian leather. Here is what that means in practice, and what it will look like after a year of use.

Full-grain, not corrected

Full-grain leather keeps the outermost layer of the hide, with its natural grain intact. It is the strongest part of the skin, and it is also the part that shows its history: fine pores, small variations in tone, the occasional natural mark. Corrected leather sands that surface away and prints a uniform pattern on top — neater on day one, flatter for the rest of its life.

How it ages

Handling transfers small amounts of oil into the surface. Over months this deepens the colour and adds a subtle sheen to the areas you touch most — the patina. On a brown belt it reads as warmth; on black it shows as depth rather than colour change.

Edges and stitching

Edges are sealed and finished rather than left raw. On a slim wallet that lives in a pocket, the edge is the first thing to fail if it isn't treated, which is why it gets the attention.

Hardware

Automatic buckles are supplied in brushed silver, brushed gun metal and carbon. The buckle is a separate component from the strap, so it can be removed when the strap is trimmed to length — and re-used.

Where it's made

Leather is Italian; all orders are dispatched from the EU. The hides come from Italian tanneries selected by our production partners — we will name specific tanneries and certifications here only once they can be verified.
