Leather care

Full-grain leather does not need much — but the little it needs, it needs consistently.

Everyday

Wipe with a soft dry cloth to lift dust before it works into the grain.
Let a belt rest flat or hanging rather than coiled tight in a drawer.
Keep wallets slim. Overfilling stretches the card slots permanently.

If it gets wet

Blot with a dry cloth and let the piece dry at room temperature, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct sun. Forced heat is what makes leather go stiff and crack.

Conditioning

Every few months, apply a small amount of a neutral leather conditioner with a soft cloth, work it in evenly and buff off the excess. Test on a hidden area first. Less product, more often, beats a heavy application.

Patina is not damage

Italian full-grain leather darkens and softens with handling. Colour deepening, slight sheen on high-contact areas and faint surface marks are the material behaving as it should.

What to avoid

Alcohol, solvents and household cleaners.
Machine washing or soaking.
Storing in plastic bags — leather needs airflow.
