Ratchet Belts Without Holes — How the Automatic Buckle Works
A ratchet belt has no holes. Instead of five or six fixed positions punched through the strap, the underside carries a fine toothed track and the buckle locks onto it. The adjustment step is roughly 5 mm, against the 25–30 mm jump between holes on a classic belt.
Why holes are the problem
On a classic belt the hole you need is almost never the hole that exists. One is a little tight after lunch, the next is a little loose. Over time the leather stretches around the hole you use most, the edge tears, and the belt starts to look worn long before the leather itself has aged.
A toothed track removes both problems. There is nothing to stretch out and nothing to tear, and the fit lands where you actually want it.

Choosing your length
Harrow belts come in 90 cm (S), 100 cm (M), 110 cm (L) and 120 cm (XL). Measure around your waist where you actually wear your trousers, then take the nearest length at or above that measurement — the excess is trimmed off at home, so there is no penalty for going up rather than down.
Shortening the belt
The buckle comes off the strap, you cut the excess leather to your measurement, and the buckle goes back on. It takes a few minutes and does not need a workshop. Because the strap is cut once and the track handles everything after that, the belt keeps fitting as your waist changes through the day and through the year.

Frequently asked questions
Will the buckle slip?
No. The mechanism locks against the teeth under load and only releases when you press the lever on the underside of the buckle.
Which length should I order if I am between sizes?
Take the longer one. The strap is trimmed to your waist anyway, so extra length costs you nothing and short length cannot be undone.
Does it work with a suit?
Yes. Without a row of holes on show the belt reads cleaner under a jacket than a classic one. Brushed silver and carbon are the most formal of the four finishes.
Can I have it engraved?
Yes — up to three initials on the buckle, added on the belt page.
